When I create a new tune, I always start with an Intro (first time only) followed by A (x2) and B (x2) parts. It would save me several seconds per tune if those 3 parts were automatically populated. I can’t imagine anyone starting a tune with C part, for example. I would assume that many people do not label all the parts in a tune which is how it works today.
This sounds like a macro feature. For Bluegrass, I normally start with A part (x2) since the intro is sometimes the same as the first verse.
I like the idea to quickly layout the skeleton sections.
I enter a fair number of songs that are not fiddle tunes. Therefore it would create more work for me to undue those presets. I say leave it like it is or have the preset song structure be a choice at new tune entry.
Thanks!
Jerry
I’ve wondered about the ability to define starting presets for new songs, and it’s a possibility I’m open to. I will reconsider this when I am working on section arrangement features.
In the meantime, one idea is to create a custom “Template” song with the structure you want, then “Copy & edit” it to make a new song with that structure. Put it somewhere easy to access by adding it to a list or naming it with a character like ! at the start.
Here’s an example:
I am with Jerry. I have tunes with up to 5 repeated parts(Dionne Reel) and one with 10 solo parts(Canon in D major). I have traditional tunes I can’t play because of time signatures which I’d vote for in terms of priority. Also corrections like toggling from “Scroll to lists” to “Mine” back and forth. That takes up time when playing in an event.
I like Luke’s suggestion because fiddle tunes like Irish and old time don’t have introductions. There are many forms, that is structures, for tunes and songs that do not fit your suggested default and would save the rest of us from having to edit your preset.
