I had been copying a song to a test list to make changes and to see if I like it and when all changes are what I want, then save it to a working list, all the while the original song is in the original list. Today, I decided I didn’t like the edited song in test list and went back to original list, to find that the original song was edited and is not what I wanted. eeks
A way around this is what I do: When editing a song, I change the title. For example, if a song is Angelina Baker, I change the edited version to Angelina Baker2. Hope that helps.
I’m guessing that when you say you “copied” a song to a test list, you mean that you used the Lists menu or the “+” button on the song index to add it to another list. This does not make a copy; if you add the song to multiple lists, they all “point” to the same song.
If you want the song to be unique to the list first, go to the Edit menu and use “Edit a copy” first (changing the title as Marian suggested is a good idea) and then, after saving, add the newly-edited to the list.
Thanks for the assistance. I don’t know what happened but when I did a duplicate and edit and changed the name, the original would also change to whatever I changed in the duplicate copy. I tried this several times with same results. This morning I did the same thing but it’s working like it should. ??? Thanks again.
