Playback is skipping a beat

Recently I have noticed that during playback, it skips a beat about every time through. It just started doing this a couple weeks ago. Any suggestions?

I’ve heard a couple other reports of this as well, both on Android devices. This is nothing new—both Android and iOS phones/tablets are susceptible to random audio issues—and I’m trying to decide if this is just more of the same or a new phenomenon that is occurring.

The first thing I want to suggest is that you restart your device. In the past, this has usually resolved issues like this. Please let me know if that helps. Also, what kind/model of device is this issue occurring on?

I am using the app on a laptop with Windows 11.
I may have figured out the problem. It might be because I don’t have a strong enough wifi signal in the office where I practice. The signal is strong enough to do everything else, such as watching YouTube videos, but maybe not strong enough for the best Strum Machine playback. I just tried it in a spot that is much closer to the router, and it did not skip. If I use the app without connecting to wifi, it seems to be ok. So, it might not be a Strum Machine issue at all. I will let you know if I learn anything more. Thanks for your quick response! I love the app!!

I appreciate your efforts in trying to troubleshoot the issue. I don’t think wifi signal is the culprit though, and the reason is that Strum Machine doesn’t require any connection to the server for playback. It does need the internet to load when you first open it and whenever you open a song (unless you are using the desktop app or have offline mode enabled) but for playback it’s using cached resources. You’ll notice that once a song is opened, you can fully disconnect from the internet and playback will still work as normal.

To confirm: are you using the desktop app (i.e. with its own icon) or are you accessing Strum Machine from a web browser, and if so which one?

Luke, I am using the desktop app. So far, during my practice this evening, it has not skipped, so go figure, ha ha…!
