Playback stopping and tempo runaway

Recently when I adjust tempo speed, the numbers runaway to the highest or lowest speed available. Also, when I am playing along with auto speed-up, and I open a new app in another window, (Mobile sheets), the playback will just stop after a few times through. What’s up?

For the playback-stopping issue, this is all I’ve been working on this week, ever since I learned about the problem. Tracking down the issue was exceptionally hard, and I had a few “false wins” that didn’t end up fixing the problem, but I’m hopeful that the latest update to the “app shell” (which can only be updated through the App Store, not the in-app updates you sometimes see) will finally fix it.

iOS’s app updates can sometimes take awhile – part of why Strum Machine updates usually bypass the App Store update process in favor of in-app code updates. So if you’re affected by this problem I suggest you go to the Strum Machine listing in the App Store and tap the blue “Update” button if you see one to update manually. (If you only see an “Open” button, it must have already updated.)

Please let me know if you continue to encounter issues after updating. This is obviously a critical part of Strum Machine and I want to make sure it gets back to rock-solid reliability.


As for the “runaway numbers”, that is the first I’ve heard of this issue. If it happens again, please send me a message through the Help menu of the app. That way it will be easier for me to look into what might be going on. Thanks!
