I like the new release a lot but I rely heavily on playlists during practice and occasional solo gigs and I miss the preview of the next song (and key?) in the list. This gave anyone using a capo a heads up for that. As it is now, on computer, I have to put down my pick and hover over the Next link but there’s no workaroud on mobile that I can tell. I’m wondering if I’m the only one who notices this and sorry if this is a repeat of an old thread.
Working on something to address this. I’d be curious to know how often you need to see the next song in a practice context where you’re having Strum Machine play backing tracks, versus a reference/performance context where you’re just looking at chords, notes, etc.?
Good. I personally miss the feature more in practice. Also, for desktop, when I click the next button it doesnt seem to auto=play so you might check that. Next and Prev keyboard buttons would be much more desktop friendly. TIA
Auto-Play is only meant to kick in when Auto-Advance is triggered (by the song ending naturally). I do plan to add next/prev song keyboard shortcuts, yes.
So far most of the “want to see the next song” feedback has revolved around performance scenarios. Can you tell me more about why you find it helpful to see the next song while you’re practicing with Strum Machine? (Also, would a keyboard shortcut for next song remove the need for seeing the next song title for some reason?)
I guess for the same reason as a bandleader that I look at the set list on stage to see what is next-to mentally prepare. Also, because I got used to it being there and found it a very useful feature so I miss it. It’s not the end of the world or anything and judging by the lack of interest in this thread, I’m in the minority, so be it. But if I may ask, why did you remove it? It didn’t seem to take up a lot of space. Separately, when practicing and I want to skip to the next song in a playlist, I have to click twice, once would be more convenient and intuitive imo. Thanks for all the work and due diligence.
Thanks for your input. We removed it for space reasons, to keep things compact and out of the way, and because we didn’t know if/when seeing those titles was useful and some anecdotal surveying suggested that they might be unnecessary. A handful of people have asked for it back, but exclusively in reference/performance scenarios so far, and we have a solution in mind for that which is being prototyped and should be up on beta later this month.
Do you mean you have to click “next” and then “play”? Perhaps when there’s a keyboard shortcut for going to the next song this will become more convenient…
